2 Corinthians 12:9

And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
(2 Corinthians 12:9)

Three points:

1. Paul plead with God

A "messenger of Satan" was bothering Paul. Why would God allow such a thing? Paul asked God to remove it, but God did not. Of the Lord Jesus it is written: Heb 5:8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.

Sometimes the suffering we have has a purpose.

2. God's strength, Paul's weakness

Paul may have thought, "I just can't make it; I just can't go on." Have you thought that way? I'm sure we all have, but God somehow gives us the strength to go on. This way we KNOW that it was the Lord that made us successful and not ourselves.

3. God's power

God's power is better than ours. Pray, wait (if need be), trust, and He will come through. Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
