Matthew 7:20

Therefore by their fruits you shall know them. (Matthew 7:20)

Three points:

1. People have fruits.

The fruits that the Lord Jesus refers to are the things we do, and even the things we think, desire, and say.

2. The fruit.

We can by our senses know what is good and bad fruit. This is obvious with potatoes; a rotten potato with really stinks; an bite into apple with a spot of brown, stinky mush is thrown out. The potato is obvious, the apple more subtle. Good fruit is But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

3. What is our fruit?

We can test what others are, but what about ourselves. Oh, Lord may You work in us to produce good fruit.
